Red Camilla Flower (16)

Red Camilla or camellia Flower

Camellias have set a benchmark in ornamental trees. The camellias excel in the desirable garden qualities: classic good looks; glossy evergreen leaves; adaptability to various climates; versatility in designs; and longevity, often outlasting the gardener in the garden. Then there’s the range of flowers-perfected over centuries and each like a living work of art. The camellias’ flowering season is usually from early autumn until late spring, depending on the cultivar and the garden’s climate.

This camilla or camelia flower was taken about 2nd week of March in London. They were in full bloom when I took it. Everywhere I saw them blooming and they are easily seen because of their bright color. Probably they are now fallen out of the tree.

Where did you take this lovely flower?

The camelia tree at my fence has not bloomed. I was very surprised to see a flowering bush in a public park.

My sister sent me a camilla for my birthday this month (Dec.). Should I keep it in the pot or plant outside, or wait until spring?

I live near Lexington, KY. The weather gets very cold.
