Proper waste disposal minimizes the spread of infections and reduces the risk of accidental injury to staff, clients, visitors, and the local community and it helps provide an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. It also reduces odors and reduces the likelihood of contamination of the soil or ground water with chemicals or microorganisms.

Biodegradable waste is a type of waste, typically originating from plant or animal sources, which may be broken down by other living organisms. Non-biodegradable is a type of waste that cannot be broken down by other living organisms.

Great photos. So the waste that goes into the biodegradable bins, do they get taken to a compost heap? Is the compost then used in gardening?

Good photo of those eye-catching yellow waste bins! Having clean surroundings can be achieved if only everyone will follow proper waste disposal - separating the biodegradables from the other, and of course learning to throw their trashes into these bins.

I am surprised that both containers are the same size. Surely one gets more use than the other, so they would need to be emptied on an unequal schedule.

i’m glad that many local government units in the Philippines now follow the Republic Act 9003 or the Philippine Solid Waste Management Act mandating waste segregation, among other policies. the bins in your photo are the necessary first steps to give the people the information and opportunity to practice what RA 9003 orders- to separate the bio- from the non-biodegradable trash.
