Accidentally deleted files from external hard disk (0)

The previous days are the most miserable moment in my life. Why? It started when my husband needs to organize his files on his Mac Book Pro. He uses the two external hard drives to store most files (installers, pictures, videos, and other software) and for backup of very significant files. When he started the task, he transferred some files from one external hard drive to another external hard drive. Files including the pictures and videos of my daughter ever since she was born until she became a toddler. Accidentally, he replaced all the updated pictures and videos of my daughter with the old ones. His only fault was, he didn’t check if he made the right thing. After a couple of days, when I was searching for some stock photos to be used in my blog, I noticed a larger free space capacity in the external hard drive. That’s when I started to look each folder one by one and I found out that the latest photos and videos of my daughter weren’t there. I immediately asked him if he did some modification in the said hard disk, and he said “Yes”! Upon hearing that, it’s like my world had turned out blue and I found myself teary eyed. For me, nothing else can be more important than those pictures and videos. Those are my treasures; the remembrances when I gave birth to her; and all the development she has been since birth.
My husband felt very sorry for what happened and right away, he started searching for any software that can recover files. Do you Guys have any idea or suggestion on what specific software that can retrieve those files?
